TENNIS:How Coronavirus Dashed My Hopes Of Watching My First Live Wimbledon Match!

Few weeks ago the Main Board of the All England Club (AELTC) and the Committee of Management of The Championships announced the cancellation of the 134th 2020 Championships due to public health concerns linked to the coronavirus epidemic. The 134th Championships will now be from 28 June to 11July 2021. As I write this short article, the current statistics stands at over 1.2million confirmed cases and approximately 66,000 deaths world wide. It became evident that if they went ahead with the tournament there would be a high risk of massive spread and even more deaths.

I fell in love with tennis when I relocated to the UK for my master's degree. I needed some cool off thing to do asides from reading school books . It is as if tennis was looking for me because the moment i was flipping the tv , Wimbledon tournament was on and the rest they say is history.

I could not afford to see a live match at the time and so it became a dream to accomplish. Here comes 2020, the year for watching live matches whether it be on the centre court, court 23 or on the open viewing lawn depending on how bulky my purse is, then the Covid19 pandemic hits us all and there goes my dream for watching a live Wimbledon tennis match this year. Am I disappointed? Well, kind of but life is more precious ant there is always next year. For now myself and family continue to follow strict health authority/government guidelines and indoors is the only place to be right now.
